Lights, Camera...Sconda Ad

    Scott Honda Vice President, Duke Scott does the final walk through for our newest set of branding commercials, with Ken Michaud, Managing Partner of Bozeken.
    The cutting edge (for local cars ads) commercials will focus on Scott's rich history, using our wealth of beautiful photos, which date back to the company's origins in the 1920's.
    The green screen will have a series of photos pertaining to the topics covered in each piece.  Click this link for a look at some behind the scenes photos of the days shoot, as well as mock ups of the final commercials.

UHS's Weber Picks up her '00 Accord

Unionville High School Senior, Shelby Weber picked up her prize last Wednesday with a smile from ear to ear the entire time.  The grateful and deserving 18-year-old received the keys to her 2000 Honda Accord LX V6 sedan with 92,000 miles and got a Scott Honda sweatshirt to sweeten the deal a bit.

According to UHS After Prom Committee Member Judy McClaskey, this year’s After Prom had 570 students attend with only 45 leaving early. That number is down from last year’s 120.

"Your generosity and commitment to our Unionville's After Prom makes our event a success," said Mary Austin, of the UHS After Prom Committee. "What teen wouldn't be thrilled to recieve a gently used, clean, reliable, safe car that will last for years, for free?  I can only say thank you Scott Honda for your donation again this year."

"Scott Honda is happy to help keep these kids safe and we wish we had the resources to do it for every local high school," said Vice President Duke Scott.  "We look forward to contributing to this event again next year."

New Sconda Artist of the Month Picked

For the first time ever we have a 2-time winner of Artist of the Month.  Congratulations to Madison A., for achieving this great accomplishment.  Madison has been our best artist thus far and she could win this coveted award many more times, but we have to be fair to all of our artists.

Madison, age 11, has about 3 more sailboats hanging on the "Wall of Fame" that are very well done. She won a prize pack from Sconda for winning twice and I sent her a note encouraging her to keep at with her wonderful artistic abilities.

We actually had a customer ask our receptionist, "Who picks the Artist of the Month?", because she didn't think one of the winners was that great and that Scott Honda should "get serious about picking these winners"...true story.

Well, naturally I got a little defensive for our budding Bob Ross's and I decided I should make a note on each previous winners sailboat so people can really see how great all of the winners have been.  The prior winners now have a little yellow square in the corner of their masterpiece that reads "Previous Artist of the Month Winner"

We have had over 300 colorings done and one of those could cause a little controversy.  Now my wife can verify that I had conversations with people, prior to this particular coloring, about the slurred pronunciation of our wonderful dealership, hence "Sconda". But this drawing, by a young man named Jason, was the first I know of to put Sconda in writing.  He even explained it at the top...just great stuff. If anyone knows who this young man is, please let us know, he deserves a Scott Honda sweatshirt for his genius work.

Happy 80th to the Scott Dealerships

    On this day in 1929 our founder, Raymond P. Scott Sr. received his letter of Incorporation from the state of Pennsylvania.

    While working as a bank teller in the 1920s Ray would moonlight on Saturday’s in car sales.  His first big sale was for seven Dodge trucks to a local milk delivery company for which he earned 700 dollars and quickly decided a career change was in order.  On May 22, 1929 Ray incorporated and opened a Dodge-Plymouth dealership on the Main Line in Ardmore, Pa.

    Through four generations,multiple locations and franchises, the Scott family has been doing its best to exceed expectations one customer at a time.  Thank you to all of our loyal customers, without you these past 80 years never would have been possible.

Congrats to UHS's Shelby Weber - After Prom Accord Winner

    At 5 a.m. on Sunday morning, while most of us were sleeping, Shelby Weber's name was being announced as the winner of the Unionville High School After Prom Car Giveaway, donated by Scott Honda.
  "I was completely shocked when they announced my name," Weber told Sconda.  "I decided to do the drawing this year on a whim, not thinking that I would get it, but it definitely is a blessing! Everyone around me was so happy that I received the car because they knew that I would be able to use it!"

    Weber, an 18-year-old senior, explained that she was going to have to share a car with her sister all summer, but now that notion is a thing of the past.  She'll have her own car during the summer months and when she begins attending La Roche College in Pittsburgh Pa, where she will major in interior design and play volleyball.

    "She was so tired and so happy, all she could do was smile," said Judy McClaskey, one of the members of the UHS After Prom Steering Committe. "This morning I was making rounds (at UHS) and stopped in the office, they wanted to know who won.  When I told them Shelby, one secretary actually started to cry and said a nicer kid could not have won!"
    This is the third year Scott Honda has donated a car.  Weber's prize was a '00 Honda Accord LX V6 sedan, with 92,000 miles.
    "Thank you, thank you, thank you, I am so grateful," said a grateful Weber.

FCX Clarity named '09 World Green Car

Recognizing Honda's commitment to environmental leadership in the area of alternative fuels and hydrogen-powered fuel cell technology, the Honda FCX Clarity was declared the 2009 World Green Car, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today.

At a press conference hosted by the New York International Auto Show and Mobil 1 at the Jacob Javits Center in, New York, the Honda FCX Clarity was named the 2009 World Green Car. The FCX Clarity was chosen from an initial entry list of 22 contenders nominated by 59 World Car jurors from 25 countries worldwide.

"The FCX Clarity is a symbol of the progress we have made with fuel cell vehicles and our commitment to developing vehicles that promote renewable energy supplies and zero-emissions transportation," said Steve Center, vice president, national Marketing Operations for American Honda.

Scott Chrysler Closing, Chevrolet is Safe

    Andrew M. Scott, co-owner of the Scott Family of Dealerships in Allentown, Pa., learned yesterday that after 26 years of selling and servicing Chryslers, the manufacturer was forcing them to close.
    "We knew this day could come and based on that we reduced our inventory and put ourselves in a position that we contained our liability," Scott told a WFMZ reporter yesterday.
    CBS 3 also interviewed Scott, who has been in the car business since 1972 and whose grandfather, Raymond P. Scott Sr., opened the family's first dealership in 1929.
    "We don't know exactly the time frame (for closing) I think that they will be able to get their car serviced here for quiet some time into the future we don't know exactly how long,' he told the reporter.  "Obviously warranty work will become an issue at some point when the franchise is completely terminated."
    Scott Chrysler was one of 53 Chrysler franchises closed in Pennsylvania, the hardest hit state in the country.

Scott's 1st Quarter I-Pod Winner Announced

    

    Congratulations to Mark M. of Downingtown, Pa.  He was the lucky winner of our 1st quarter I-pod Drawing.
    Mark took the time to fill out a brief survey he received in the mail from Scott Honda and his survey was picked out of a batch of 716 that were submitted between Jan. 1st and March 31st.   

    "Your Service Department is professional and thorough, providing quality car care," Mark says.  "Your employees are polite and always take the time to explain what the car needs when it comes in for routine maintenance.  Also, when it needs a repair, we are always able to schedule it in a timely fashion and the work is done within the estimated time. "

     The I-pod he won was an 8 GB Nano, black, 4th generation. 

    "My MP3 player just broke, so the timing for winning the I-pod was perfect," Mark told Sconda.  "Listening to music helps keep me motivated in my daily exercise routine.  Thank you for your generosity."

2010 Honda Accord Wagon Spy Shots Taken

Introducing the 2010 Honda Accord CUV or wagon as they used to call them in the olden days.  Some great spy photos have been taken of this beauty that looks almost more like the Accord coupe given 2 extra doors and a hatch, than an expanded sedan.

Honda used to carry a production Accord Wagon from 1991 to 1995.  Cars which are wildly popular in the used market, almost attaining a cult-like status among owners.  Europe has also had an Accord Tourer (Wagon) for some time and Honda has finally deemed America to be a viable market for this great new addition to the the lineup.

LeftLaneNews.com is reporting "AWD will be an option. A close look at this prototype reveals that it has a rear differential. More than likely, this means the car has Honda’s VTM-4 AWD system."  That's great news for us Northeassterners!
